As you may recall, I have a thing for hexagons. I also, apparently, have a thing for projects that take FOR. EVER. to complete. This time the fault wasn’t entirely mine. I have been swept up in what can only be termed a sub-cultural phenomenon.
You see, in the knitting universe, like in all closed systems, phenomena arise spontaneously from time to time that go viral within the system, contaminating all of the organisms within. The Beekeeper’s Quilt is one such phenomenon. The pattern was released in August and to date, at least 1500 people are attempting this thing.
The idea is to knit a little two-sided hexagon like this:
Each one is stuffed with polyfil. To make the quilt, you assemble and join them like this.
By my calculations, it will take me upwards of 300 of these puffs to have a stroller-sized quilt. To date, I have made 35. It’s safe to say that I have a ways to go…
To get an idea of what a completed quilt looks like and to see the woman who designed it, check out the video below.

I’m inspired! I love this idea! I think it’s a great winter project. Your hexapuffs are too cute.

Look at all those hexapuffs! They are adorable. And no, I am not (not!) going to get caught up in this craze. But they are so cute all lined up like that. =)
