So here we are, almost four years after I started it, DONE! The Not-So-Irish-Chain quilt is complete!

I am inordinately proud of this thing. Every stitch on it, without exception, was placed there by my hand. OK, I will stop going on about that but really, it’s the thing I’m proudest of, even in light of my recent resolution not to be so fetishistic about hand-quilting.

That’s me, holding it on the back step of Edna’s house. I am eerily disembodied – even for me :-)

Its completion was slightly delayed because I realized I couldn’t get away with not quilting the borders. Needless to say, I am very glad that I did.

This coming weekend I will attend my first quilt retreat with my guild and I will hopefully make significant headway on the next quilt in the line-up, the Cottage Quilt. I certainly hope that no quilt will ever take me (almost) four years to complete.
